Nintendo clearly learned a lot from the DS when designing the Wii, with its unique control system and ultra user friendly interface. It’s not just the hardware which bares comparison though, with Nintendo planning a similar range of unusual software, some of which can barely be described as a video game at all. Big Brain Academy on the DS was the less academic of the two brain training games released, testing your grey matter in five separate areas categorised as “Think”, “Memorize”, “Analyze”, “Compute” and “Identify”.

Only three mini-games have been shown so far for the Wii version, the first presenting you with three numbered blocks and a total that you have to reach by adding two of them together. Your job is to knock the one you don’t need out by wielding the Wii remote like a hammer. The second game is a variant of spot the difference, except with inverted and distorted pictures where you have to place the missing elements in the second image. The third mini-game displays two towers of bricks where you have to punch holes in one so that it exactly matches up to the other.

All three games are played against an opponent, which implies that all or most of the other games will be too. Since you can also use your Mii character this is certain to be a multiplayer favourite for just about anyone in the family. So even if it doesn’t improve your brain power it should at least ensure you remain happy in your ignorance.

It is good fun and makes you want to concentrate in order to beat your previous grade. A week after buying it, I admitt that I thought it was a bit repetative but it is one of them games in which you play all the time then stop and then start playing it loads again. Multiplayer mode is great fun and trying to beat other students is great too. I bought it new for ?15 and I definitly think it is worth the money.

Admittedly this does look cooler than the Wii Zapper but that’s where any favourable comparisons end. Whereas the Zapper is perfectly balanced, precision made and comfortable to wield, the Gun Holder is fiddly, shoddily finished and awkard to hold. It has a flimsy thin plastic cover that feels as if it could break off easily. Once the Wii Remote is clipped into place, the trigger doesn’t connect with the B button. It simply doesn’t work. If this were not bad enough, you get finger cramp after about 10 minutes of gameplay. The Zapper is not cheap, but the Gun Holder is just expensive tat.

Like everyone else I went through several gun holders (didn’t realise it wasn’t the zapper!). Amazon sent out THREE to me and none of them worked. I haven’t ordered the zapper yet but I would recommend anyone to purchase this…it just doesn’t work. However would like to say Amazon exchanged and refunded me all three times, no problems, no hassle!

It’s a good pad, but the analogue sticks are a little too close together. Also, it doesn’t work with Gamecube games, and isn’t as comfortable as the Wavebird either. Now don’t get me wrong, it is NOT uncomfortable, just not as comfortable. Buy a Wavebird if you can, but if you can’t get one of these then.

Ok, first of all, it is a great idea to get the classic controller, as it does add to the enjoyment of the Wii, It includes all the “Wii Buttons” and it even works with the Wii Menu (so you can use analog sticks instead of the wii mote if you like) But I do however find the controller uncomfortable. It is basically a SNES controller with analog sticks! The thing I find annoying about it, is the wire comes to the bottom. this wire annoys me when I am playing, I would prefer it come from the top. However saying that, the buttons are easy to use, and it does work better then the GameCube controller, but it can feel like it is going to slip out of your hands, it could do with better grip (like the original GameCube controller), but some could say that the layout makes it feel more like the original SNES games, and stuff. This maybe great, but if you are looking at downloading other titles, like the N64 games, where the second stick becomes “C” (up,down,left and right) it can become pretty annoying, especailly for some games. Like Mario Kart, ok the C buttons only really controlled camera angles and stuff. The great thing about the buttons was that you could still hold down the A button, then change camera angles etc… using another finger, this one, see’s you letting go of the A button, to use the “C” button. That aside though, it is still one of the best things to get for your Wii, but I must say that ONLY buy this controller if you plan to play a LOT of Virtual Console games, although it can be used for other games aswell (Mortal Kombat, NiGHTS etc…) I would only really still get it, if you know you will use it a lot!

I purchased this on the box’s promise that it “works with any internet connection”. Not so! I connect through a USB modem, and the software supplied does not detect it. I am computer literate (I have a degree in computing science for goodness sake), and tried everything I could to get this to work. After some research, I found many many accounts of people with USB modems having the same problem. If you’ve got a normal ethernet connection, this will most likely work fine, but after my experience, I would NOT recommend this product. Do as I intend to do, and buy the official Nintendo USB connector instead.

I read about it in online Nintendo DS forums, and kept hearing about interesting and sometimes amazing homebrew applications and homebrew games that I could simply download for free and play them on my Nintendo DS or DS Lite.

The reality of freely available unreleased games and applications should be appealing to any handheld owner, and I am without a doubt no exception. So, just what is homebrew? A Gameboy and Nintendo DS homebrew game is software written by clever software programmers for the Nintendo DS system. With the majority of the software being of the highest quality. Homebrew vastly increases the functionality of the Nintendo DS. And boy did I discover applications. A number of the homebrew Nintendo DS Games are not up to par, but a large majority of them would make even the best commercial games jealous.

For owners of both the Nintendo DS and the Gameboy Advance hand held systems, I would recommend the Supercard SD because the Supercard SD can also be used on your Gameboy Advance. And there are literally thousands of homebrew games and applications available for the Gameboy Advance system. Nintendo DS Homebrew will catch up to those numbers too, and perhaps will have even more free games and applications. Where can you find the hombrew software I’m writing about? Simply go to your favorite search engine and type in either NINTENDO DS HOMEBREW or GAMEBOY ADVANCE HOMEBREW and you’ll get a list pages and pages long of websites that talk about, cater to, or just plain carry all of the latest FREE homebrew software. It’s almost an adventure really. And I would not be surprised if some of these hombrew programmers end up being commercial game programmers in the very near future. The quality of the games is just that good!

Both the Supercard SD and the M3 DS Simply do much more than just play homebrew Nintendo DS Roms. They play movies, mp3 music, allow you to check out your latest digital photos in the JPEG picture format that most digital cameras use. Both of these units also allow you to read ebooks right on your Nintendo DS screen in the form of TXT documents. Now, when I say movies, I really mean movies. With the included software you can convert your DVD movies to play on the Supercard SD or the M3 DS Simply, and watch your movies on the go.

The Supercard SD (SD stands for Secure Digital) and the M3 DS Simply both have an advantage over many development kits. The Supercard SD uses low cost Secure Digital memory cards, for unlimited storage capacity, whie the M3 DS Simply uses microSD cards. You can easily find SD and microSD cards at any electronics store such as Radio Shack, BestBuy and even on eBay if you want a bargain and can wait a few days to get the item in the mail. I make reference to an advantage because almost all other flash kits have built in memory. While this can be a good thing, it does hold you back when you’re looking for extra storage for movies, games, or applications.

I have just got this game and its not bad at all. If you are looking for a game where you just want to fish (The name gives it away) this is it. simple.

I bought this game and the rod for the Wii. I have reviewed the rod and it is not a positive review. Sadly the game review is not going to be much better. The game, as you would imagine, is pretty basic. You pick where you want to fish, cast, reel in and hope for the best. You can change the lures to increase your chances of catching a fish, but there is not much more to it than that. Once you find a spot where there are fish, it is just a matter of trying different lures in different colours until one bites. Then you reel it in a hope for the best. Sometimes the hook falls out, sometimes the line breaks. There is very little skill to the game and after a few levels doing the exact same thing over and over again, no amount of catching big fish is going to make this game exciting or fun. I remember playing this on the dreamcast and thinking it was great fun. Perhaps I am just more mature or the game itself is not as good. Either way I would not waste money on buying this game and whatever you do, if you do buy the game don’t bother with the rod.

I was overjoyed to get this game, being a huge lover of kareoke and dancing and thought it would be fantastic. I had it for one night and sold it immediately (thanks Amazon). Although I did have fun (most likely assisted by copious amounts of wine)! I found the game highly irritating because: You have to go through a long and boring tutorial initially. Making the character dance just involves wiggling your hand with the remote and messing about with the nunchuck. Since I clearly couldn’t do this with a mike in my hand we had one person singing and one dancing. There is is a very limited selection of cover songs, of which only a handful are good/recognisable. You can unlock other songs if you are a good singer - which I am NOT so couldn’t get another songf for the life in me. The mike sounds awful and the playback is vile. All in all, it’s good for about a minute, then, like me, you’ll probably decide to just buy a kareoke machine and do it properly!

I really wanted this game so I ignored all the bad reviews about Boogie. However, I am now looking to sell my copy after playing with it (both by myself and with friends) for an evening. This is because: 1) The Dancing is so bad! I do not know who did the programming for this, but they sure do not know how to dance. you sort of wave one hand around while fiddling with the buttons on your left. I wasn’t expecting something as good dance dance revolution- but more in the line of the rayman dance game- which i LOVE, and where you can actually sort of dance to, instead of frantically trying to remember which buttons to push when to get a good score!!! 2) The Songs- why are they SO slow? Part of the fun of karaoke is singing to the song like it is and its definitely not like that! Granted I already sing along to songs like Don’t Cha at the gym and expected to be a bit more pace-y for the game. Also the backing they provide are not… well the best. Slow story mode also means you can’t really have fun with it until you suffered for hours through the boredom. My Advice? Get Rayman for the dancing and also as a bonus all the fun games you can get; then go to your mates for Sing Star!!!
