Customer Review: Calm Down Dear - it’s only a game !
This is just a little bit of fun on a rainy afternoon, it’s not for serious sports fans. The other reviews slate this beyond belief, giving it less than an hours play. It’s light and easy enough for Granny to play, but enough fun for the kids to give it some welly ! The main thing is the all the games are set in calm atmostphere, so if like me you cringe at the constant squeals and irritating soundtrack of Super Mario Charged Football this sequence of team and individual sports has a soothing easy going feel to it. You earn tickets to unlock new games - however you only earn tickets in single player mode and this really is a family or group sort of thing. We started with darts, loads of options from 301 through to 701 or cricket style challenge. Easy enough to master the throwing motion. Unlockable game is baseball darts - we’ve not got there yet. Hoop Shoot - quite easy to master and a good 10 minute challenge. Ping Cup, the only infuriating game, throw the ping pong into one of the cups, hmmm we just couldn’t get this right. Shuffleboard, we spent hours on this and it was highly addictive, curling is unlockable. Skill ball, it’s okay feels a bit like bowling on wii sports, once you master it it’s simple fun. Table Hockey - love this simple object of the game, made a little but harder with the slipperyness of the surface. Only thing we haven’t played is trivia, didn’t have time after 2 hours. For under ?20 it’s a good afternoons entertainment, not recommended for hardcore gamers.
Customer Review: Play with friends only..
A poor game that only just scrapes 2 stars if played with friends. I wouldn’t bother if playing alone. The games : Darts - Controls takes some getting use to, but with some perseverance can be mastered. I would suggest trying high score firstly just to get used to controls before going onto other variations (301, 501, cricket) Air Hockey - Very fiddly controls make it almost impossible to beat the CPU player, again best played against a friend, even then the amount of silly own goals conceded can become frustrating.. Hoops - Basketball shoot with fiddly control system (done better on Party Carnival), basically the more hoops you shoot, the more tickets you win. Skii Ball - Roll the ball to try and hit the highest scores (Again control system and feel of game is better on Party Carnival). Ping Cup - Bit of a weird one. The idea is to through a ping pong ball into one of 10 of your opponants cups?! At first was virtually impossible (after trying to follow on screen instructions), eventually with trial and error I can now hit a few cups, but have yet to complete a game (I normally quit out after about 1/2 hour). Shuffleboard - A bit like curling on a table. Probably the best game here (again played with a friend as CPU player will beat you). The controls are fairly easy to master after a few minutes and can be quite fun. Trivia - Oh dear… All questions have strong American slant (unless you are really into US sports and TV then avoid), plus scoring system not well documented in instructions.. Poor. Obviously the developers couldn’t be bothered to change the questions for the UK release! Borrow it if you must and try challenging a friend to Shuffleboard or Darts. Other than that avoid..

Customer Review: A never ending flurry of imagination!
Mario is perfect in space! From the moment you start it’ll pull you in and never let go of you. I’ve not yet once got up early just to play a game before work, but this game made me do it.;) The controls are so simple. Run with the analog stick, ‘A’ button to jump, and a quick waggle of the remote will make Mario spin Crash Bandicoot-style to break objects open, or splatter Goombas. This is because jumping on enemy heads can be odd from a top-down view, as sometimes you’ll be looking down from above at Mario, to give you a good zoomed out view of a small planet level. The visuals are classic Super Mario, with beautiful vibrant colours, Mario locales (blocks, pastel hills, Bowser forts) wrapped around levels shaped like balls, all with gorgeous star constellations in the background. And the space element doesn’t make it feel sci-fi or anything like that - it’s still classic Mario in feel. Instead of worlds being entirely flat, they’re instead broken up into smaller segments and wrapped around weird shaped planets. This breaks worlds up, and makes them more fun because you’re solving puzzles in bits then blasting off to solve another planet platforming puzzle. There are some Mario 64-style flat levels though, but even these feature ball-shaped planet levels suspended above them - so there’s a nice mix. The transition between both is done so well, you barely notice. Some levels are even disc-shaped, with structures on both sides of the disc that you can explore. Jump down a warp pipe on top of the disc, then spring out on the underside of the disc! Gravity plays a big part in puzzles too. You’ll be able to run upside-down on levels, because gravity will keep Mario down. You can even leap upwards from one ball-shaped level, and you’ll be pulled into the gravitational field of a nearby level, which you’ll then stick to and be able to run and leap around on. It’ll get you to think differently about the platforming. If that’s not enough, there’s tons of Mario enemies (Goombas, Koopas) and Warp Pipes that take you to bonus rooms, and you can point and collect colourful stars with the remote, and interact with other environmental features by pointing at them (with help of a little blue star cursor on the screen!). So fun. And it’s always chucking new levels and fun concepts at you, so you’re never waiting long before new places open up. Perfect for keeping kids and adults interested! Reminded me why I love games so much - definately the best 3D Mario platformer I’ve ever played, and one of my favourite games ever. The music and sound is some of the best I’ve ever heard from Nintendo, with some classic Super Mario Bros. 3 remixes, and orchestral tracks. Plus there’s some amazing boss battles, and cool transformation mushrooms that turn you into a Bee and even a Boo Ghost! You’ll also find yourself tilting your head a lot from all the weird angles you’ll view the action from! One last great point - you’ll never get lost! This is because the planet levels are so small that you’ll see most of the level on the screen.
Hope they do a sequel!
