Chicken Shoot (Wii)
Price: ?29.99
Customer Review: Poor game………
The chickens fly across the screen as if they have been mated with a snail. They are so easy to shoot its unbelievable!! Stick to the shooting game on Wii Play if you have it.
Customer Review: Not Resi 4 But Bloody Good Fun!
Okay so this games been dragged through the mud by websites and magazines alike. But at the end of the day what did you expect. Okay so the game plays like this Chickens fly across the screen and you shoot at them by means of the Wiimote! Thats it! Yeah its simple and no its not on a par with resi 4 or the upcoming metroid game. However its great fun!! Its a pick up and play blast away type game. If you want duck hunt with better graphics then buy this if you want an epic then buy something else. And oh yeah the minigame is pants!!

Big Brain Academy (Wii)
Nintendo clearly learned a lot from the DS when designing the Wii, with its unique control system and ultra user friendly interface. It’s not just the hardware which bares comparison though, with Nintendo planning a similar range of unusual software, some of which can barely be described as a video game at all. Big Brain Academy on the DS was the less academic of the two brain training games released, testing your grey matter in five separate areas categorised as “Think”, “Memorize”, “Analyze”, “Compute” and “Identify”.

Only three mini-games have been shown so far for the Wii version, the first presenting you with three numbered blocks and a total that you have to reach by adding two of them together. Your job is to knock the one you don’t need out by wielding the Wii remote like a hammer. The second game is a variant of spot the difference, except with inverted and distorted pictures where you have to place the missing elements in the second image. The third mini-game displays two towers of bricks where you have to punch holes in one so that it exactly matches up to the other.

All three games are played against an opponent, which implies that all or most of the other games will be too. Since you can also use your Mii character this is certain to be a multiplayer favourite for just about anyone in the family. So even if it doesn’t improve your brain power it should at least ensure you remain happy in your ignorance.

Official Nintendo Wii Component Video Cable (Wii)
All the cables you’ll ever need for your Wii.
List Price: ?19.99
Used Price: ?27.93
Customer Review: An improvement, but certainly not a HD revolution for the Wii…
I’ve only recently got hold of a Wii, and for a little while I’ve been playing games using the bog standard component / scart adaptor cable that comes with it on my HD (up to 1080p) TV. I guess I’m at a disadvantage to begin with, because seemingly anything that’s not 720i/p or 1080i/p looks blurry and terrible on my TV (due to it being LCD). After getting hold of this cable I noticed a substantial difference. The cable itself is usefully long at two and a half metres and only requires a simple change in the Wii settings to output using 480p. On my TV, things are still a little blurry but overall it’s a much more comfortable and viable experience. I feel that I can actually properly play games on it now :) Although I didn’t expect it to, 480p mode with this cable is in no way comparable to 720i/p or 1080i/p on an Xbox 360 and so if anyone thinks this cable is the answer to their prayers on that one, forget it. It is however much better and clearer than an SCART cable, as I found out by comparing Resident Evil on a SCART-equipped GameCube to the same game on Wii with this cable. (However, this is possibly not a fair test depending on how GC compatibility works on Wii). In conclusion, if you’ve got an LCD TV that supports it, I’d heartily recommend it as it does make a difference. Just don’t hope for a monumental leap in quality :)
Customer Review: It just didn’t work
I plugged the cable into my tv put it on the component input and no sound or video came out. Maybe it is just a faulty product or perhaps my tv even though it does support component. Its a pioneer pdp-427xd if anybody knows anything.

Wireless Sensor Bar (Wii)
List Price: ?9.99
Amazon Price: ?9.98
Used Price: ?9.29
Customer Review: Useful Accessory
Although I have the proper wired sensor bar that comes with the Wii, I occasionally take my wii round to friend’s houses and use it on other tvs in the house - and this wireless bar is perfect for such occasions. Whilst it is a little hungry on the batteries (I’d suggest buying a few packs of rechargeable batteries) and a bit bigger than I expected, it works perfectly with no problem at all to set up (just press the on button). Apart from the Wii itself and the controllers, this is probably one of the best accessories I have bought and would have no problem recommending it for use as a secondary sensor bar for when you are using your Wii away from the normal tv you use it on if you don’t want to have to unplug and reposition the wired sensor bar all the time.
Customer Review: Just use two lit candles!
The bar is just a infrared transmitter, it has two points of infra red. Bluetooth is what actually makes the control wireless, infra red is used as a locator. Two lit candles on the top of the tv will do the same thing, your wii remote will pick up the infra red from the candles (heat). However if your tv cant have two little tealight candles on it or you fear/liable to burn your house down then this item is a more expensive version, batteries cost more than candles! lol.But are safer. The bar you get with the machine does the trick though.

Wii Play (includes Wiimote controller) (Wii)
In a nutshell:
If you want as gentle an introduction as possible to the world of Wii then this user-friendly compilation of mini-games is just the thing for you, with a collection of games that are as easy to play as they are fun.

The lowdown:
It might be easy to use but the Wii is still a pretty unusual beast and a bit of a culture shock from the overly complex controllers of other consoles. This compilation of mini-games aims to ease you in gently with simple to play games that only need the Wii Remote to enjoy. These include games of table tennis, air hockey (or Laser Hockey as the game would have it) and an updated of NES classic Duck Hunt. There’s also Wii Billiards, a fishing sim and a number of games which use your customised Mii Channel character, including Wii Pose and the Where’s Wally style Find Mii. Since many of these games have a multiplayer mode the game also comes bundled with an extra Remote (but not a nunchuck), which usually sells for ?29.99 separately.

Most exciting moment:
Although all of the games are fun the best one is probably the Duck Hunt update (which also has you shooting UFOs and other non-avian enemies). Perhaps what’s most exciting about it is that it proves how good other light gun franchises, such as Virtua Cop and Time Crisis would be on the Wii.

Since you ask:
Many of the mini-games included with Wii Play, such as Duck Hunt and Table Tennis, were first seen as technical demos at the E3 trade conference in May 2006, when the Wii was first revealed in playable form.

The bottom line:
The beginner’s guide to Wii, with a handy extra controller. - HARRISON DENT

Customer Review: A Good Game
This is a jolly good game that is a splendid introduction to the Wiimote controller, I intitially bought it for the free controller, but upon playing soon discovered it was a real hoot!
Customer Review: A simple yet addictive compilation of games
Wii Play is a great little compilation of games that comes bundled with a free remote - or the other way around, depending how you want to look at it. Admittedly, this isn’t the sort of game you’ll play alone, but like Wii Sports it’s fantastic to play in a small group and demonstrates yet again that the Wii is the best console for outright fun. While there are a total of nine games here, my personal favourites are: Laser Hockey, which is sort of like air hockey but with a funky neon-lit table; Find Mii, in which you have to pick out different Mii avatars in numerous ways (this gets more challenging the further you go); Pose Mii, which is a simple yet challenging game where you have to quickly align Miis up in the correct pose and posture before they hit the water; Shooting Range, which is basically Duck Hunt but with all new graphics and tighter gameplay, and finally Charge, which is a great little racing game where you have to ride a cow around a field and collect the scarecrows for points. There are more games on here that offer up plenty of fun, but the above are the ones I find to be the best. Graphics are similar to Wii Sports in that they go for the unrealistic, semi-cartoon style Nintendo does so very well, and the sound is typically humorous and charming in equal measure. In all, Wii Play is barrels of fun and laughs, but as previously stated, it’s only a game you will ever use when in groups large or small. But considering you get this and the Wii Remote for the price of a regular game should be incentive enough for you to buy it. I think it’s one of the best bargains of the year and it’s something you should definitely not miss out on.
